I knew the day was going to be fun from the moment Claire kicked off her shoes and went running through the flower gardens at Solebury Orchards. My favorite part of child photography is that I get a glimpse into a carefree world full of wonderment and unfiltered exploration in which, for an hour or so, I get to be a part of. We picked a bouquet of wild flowers, stopped to chase butterflies and feel the grass in our toes, pluck a raspberry straight from the vine and pop it right in our mouth.
I quickly saw what a sweet little girl Claire was, with those gorgeous big brown eyes and I was happy not only to photograph her but to capture the strong bond she had with her Mommy. There were moments of sweet kisses and embraces as well as times where she sought her independence – “I do it, Mommy”. She’s two. But throughout the time I spent with them, their mutual love and admiration for each other shone through and it made me think what a lucky baby-on-the-way to be born into this family. Rosemary had that mysterious glow that first trimester women tend to (…between the bouts of nausea and exhaustion…) that says, “I’m part of something amazing and it’s my little secret.”
I can’t wait to watch as their family grows and to capture those special times in their lives.
