“I see art everywhere, every day.”Kim O’Brien is not your average professional photographer. She picked up a camera at the age of eight, and thus began a long-running love of the art form. She became technically trained in natural light and studio work, and witnessed the film era morph into digital. Her creative side led her to a successful career as a creative director and designer, though she found herself always coming back to the camera. Deciding to leave the corporate world to pursue her passion full time, Kim has built an impressive portfolio of award-winning work. Based out of Chapel Hill, NC, she specializes in fine art portraiture of families, children and high school seniors.    

The connection that Kim creates with each of her clients creates a very special experience—and enables her to catch the most poignant moments.

Kim’s style of photography is organic and authentic, and she uses the beauty of natural light. She prefers to capture life as it happens, in a setting that compliments her subjects and adds incredible dimension to each photograph.

A mother to three girls, Kim is acutely aware of how fast time goes by when your children are growing up. Her style of photography and the way she sees art and beauty in everything gives her subjects an even deeper appreciation for the everyday moments.

Along with her love of photography, Kim adores sushi, the smell of campfires, long bike rides, stinky cheese, a good love story and James Taylor. She is inspired every day by her children and husband, and is deeply touched by the connections she makes with the families she works with.
